Klez Kids Klezmer Band

Led by a school teacher who is an accomplished flutist, the Klez Kids Klezmer Band, now in its third year, has been a tremendous success. Meeting after school once a week for an hour, the band has given budding musicians an opportunity to work together as an ensemble, has helped develop sight reading, ear training and pitch skills and has improved students’ general musicianship all around.
The Klez Kids have had an impressive performance history, playing for members of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, for the conductor and executive director of the Ann Arbor Symphony, for a concert event at Kerrytown Concert House, for the Ann Arbor Israel Independence Day celebration, and at many other events.
Any child in the second through fifth grades who plays a string, wind or brass instrument and can read music is welcome to join the Klez Kids.
