Hebrew Day School is thrilled to announce updated plans for our new school library, the Anna Schwalb Memorial Library and the Chuck and Sunnie Tait Student Learning Center.

As unforeseen costs arose and after careful consideration, our plans shifted over the course of the year and resulted in a revised strategic plan. Rather than housing the new library in an external addition built on to the JCC, we will be remodeling existing blueprints of the school, and reconfiguring internal spaces to best serve the needs of our ever-growing school. These revitalized spaces will  include our new school library, updated administrative offices, and a renovated first-grade classroom. This adapted plan better aligns with the strategic priorities of our school, is more financially efficient, and is scheduled for completion for student use by the fall. We look forward to sharing photos and updates with you over the course of the summer and welcoming you to a dedication event this fall.

We invite you to view images and updated plans for the Anna Schwalb Memorial Library included in this article, which will include the Chuck and Sunnie Tait Student Learning Center, our new administrative offices, and the renovated first-grade classroom.

We will be moving all library and office items on Sunday 6/9 through Tuesday 6/11. We are seeking packing help for those days. If you or someone you know is available to help move, we are happy to pay moving assistants. Please email wkeller@hdsaa.org if you are interested in participating. Construction is set to begin the week of June 17th.

This is a milestone moment in the life of our school, and we are deeply grateful for the generosity and partnership of many that helped to make this significant project possible. We envision the library as a bright, welcoming, engaging space that we are proud to visit and share with the community. As professionals assessed our building, we are now facing higher costs than we originally anticipated. We invite you to help us close the funding gap and make a lasting impact on this vibrant space. Whether it is a gift dedicated to a student, teacher, alum, or loved one or an anonymous investment that will nourish our students’ experience for years to come–every gift makes a difference. Please join us in making this new library into a reality for our school.
