First grade parents gathered on Wednesday evening to decorate covers for the siddurim that their children will receive May 21st. Like their children, the parents approached the task differently; some with excitement and others with trepedation. Some students were very specific in the instructions that they gave their parents while others wanted a complete suprise. No matter how they each felt when the first arrived, all left pleased with their creations and look forward to presenting them to their children. This HDS tradition is a memorable one; students use the siddur that they receive in the first grade throughout the years until they graduate.
